FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
1. Are you a qualified counsellor?
Yes, I have a Diploma of a Practitioner of Counselling and Psychotherapy and I am an Accredited Member of the Counselling Society.
2. Can I talk to you before you see me?
Yes, we can talk on the phone before you see me. You can then decide if you would like to make an appointment.
3. Are the counselling sessions confidential?
Yes, the counselling sessions are confidential. The only occasion when I might need to talk to someone else, such as your GP, about our sessions is when I have a serious concern for your safety or for safety of someone else you have mentioned in the session.
4. How long is each session?
Each session lasts 50 minutes.
5. How many sessions do I have to commit to?
You do not have to commit to any number of sessions, you can decide whether you book another appointment at the end of each session.
6. How many sessions will I need?
The number of sessions will depend on your goals and the issues you would like to resolve.
7. What happens in the first session?
The initial consultation is an opportunity for us to get to know each other and decide whether we would like to work together.
I will take some general information about and will then give you an opportunity to talk about your problem.
8. What theoretical approach is used?
Instead of using a single theoretical approach, I use a number of different tools and techniques in order to help you work through your issues in the most effective way.
